It’s that period again, and here is everything you need to know on how magnificent Hasaacas Ladies has been since its inception in June 2003.
For the first time Hasaacas Ladies FC will compete in both the League and the FA Cup finals against a familiar foe in Ampem Darkoa Ladies – the wails and the excitements over the years make for a better final.
And it’s a day of history for Women’s Football, the players and the technical heads.
A fine story Hasaacas Ladies has sold as we look at its inception and count down to yet another historic day for the Club.
The brand Sekondi Hasaacas FC has grown on every westerner and it’ll be your story too when you come close to the Club, you’ve got nothing, but smiles as your remarks.
A bit of history
It’s a necessity, that today’s squad pours in some appreciation for the giants’ strides made by some figures over the years. Ben Hassan[current owner of Women’s Division One League side Hassport Ladies FC] birthed the idea of Hasaacas Ladies following his return from Germany and sold the idea to Alhaji Fuseini Mahama and Benjamin Eyison[both currently serving on the Club’s Board of Directors], former management members of the men’s team.
Before long, the team was already formidable in 2003.
Yusif Basigi and Peter Dadzie were drafted in based on their already firmed up interest in women’s football and that appears to be that.
In its 15 games run in the maiden edition of the professional women’s league – Hasaacas Ladies won it in style, not dropping a single point, won the 2012/2013 WPL with a 100 percent record.
Within the last 18 years, the club has achieved something rarely seen in football on this side; Hasmal has produced some of the country’s best players to dominate the various national teams.
The first
It’s easily unprecedented what Hasaacas Ladies FC has achieved; being the first team to win the Women’s Premier League title, dominated the title for three consecutive years and made the final on four consecutive occasions.
The team claimed the last women’s competition which was dubbed Normalization Cup bouncing back from two goals down to power in three goals against Ampem Darkoa Ladies in a masterly show to clinch the title, its fourth.
On July 15, when Hasmal Ladies begins the conquest in the CAF Women’s Champions League, it’ll become the first Club to do so from Ghana.
Against Ampem Darkoa Ladies
On Saturday, June 26 at the Madina AstroTurf Park, it’ll be the fourth meeting between the two sides and the 6th time Hasaacas Ladies is making the final, the most by any other team.
Club Legend, Samira Suleman, immortalized in the Club (the season’s top scorer with 12 goals) by scoring the only goal of the game as Hasmal Ladies beat Ampem Darkoa Ladies 1–0 to win its third league title.
Yusif Basigi pushed the team to another final in 2016(at Cape Coast Stadium) against a rejuvenated Ampem Darkoa Ladies side, Hasmal aimed for a 4th title on the trot – this time, a former Hasaacas Ladies player, Grace Asantewaa put the spanner in Hasmal’s work with the only goal of the game.
After dominating the Northern and Southern Zones in the 2019 GFA-NC Championship; that was another platform to break the two. Despite a poor start from Hasaacas Ladies, conceding two goals in the first half – Evelyn Badu, Perpetual Agyekum and Milot Pokuaa conjured three second half goals to turn the score line to the advantage of the Giants.
Hasmal Ladies will aim at a third win over Ampem Darkoa Ladies whilst the latter will look at squaring it up when both teams make it to the field on Saturday.
Standout this season
One thing for sure, you won’t know where the goal will be coming from; Milot Pokuaa, Doris Boaduwaa and Veronica Appiah are all proven scorers with 26 goals shared among the top three attackers.
It’s a compact back which pushed throughout the season conceding 8 goals in 14 games and the architects of that magnificent run have been Grace Banwah in poles, Janet Egyir and Regina Antwi at the central midfield, on the left is Queenabel Amankwah and Comfort Owusu seeing most of the games on the right.
The midfield combination of Evelyn Badu, Faustina Nyame Aidoo and Azumah Bugre has been firm and purposeful throughout the campaign.
Where to watch the game
Dubbed the women’s football festival, the eventful day is packed with full of events starting 8:00A.M with some second tier games.
The Championship game will be live on Max TV and streamed online across the various Ghana Football Association handles as has been done throughout the season.

There’s a certain nostalgia brewing and everyone is anticipating a repeat of the last meeting.
