Doris Boaduwaa scored a first half brace and Abigail Sakyiwa added another in the second half to ensure Hasaacas Ladies FC beat Soccer Intellectuals 3-1 on match day 16 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.
Coach Yussif Basigi’s side conjured for a eight consecutive victory at home to run off an impressive seven points lead at the top at least before Faith Ladies engage Thunder Queens on Monday.
Doris Boaduwaa opened the score cards inside the first 15 minutes of the game on a trademark strike to give Hasmal the lead.
The lead was canceled following a quick run in by the incoming attacker who pounced on a loose ball to ensure the score-line reverts to a 1-1 draw.
Doris Boaduwaa won the battle of wills, stood up and turned in the spot kick expertly after Fidous Yakubu’s strike was handled inside the penalty box to ensure Hasaacas Ladies FC entered the recess with a 2-1 lead.
It was Doris Boaduwaa’s 9th goal of the season and the most by any Hasmal player this season.
Coach Yussif Basigi threw in three substitutions for the second half; Sylvia Osei, Veronica Kumah-Baah and Abigail Sakyiwa were introduced for Mary Opoku Ndali, Fidous Yakubu and Comfort Owusu.
Abigail Sakyiwa didn’t waste her time on the field to register her name on the score sheet to give Hasmal Ladies a breathing space.
The game ended 3-1 for Hasaacas Ladies and that means Hasmal will need one win from the remaining two games to wrap up the league.
